Back in 1881, on December 8, the workers from the Danova Printing House presented the performances "Stoian Voivoda" and "The Envy of Barbuet" at the International Theater "Luxemburg" for charity. This legendary undertaking became historic and became the first impetus in Plovdiv not only to talk about a Bulgarian professional theater, but also to take the bold step for its creation.
On December 12th, just four days after the two performances, the Regional Assembly voted to finance the first theater troupe - 750 Turkish liras, which equals 750,000 groshis. This patriotic decision and the presence of actors and a stage provide a prerequisite for the proud title of the Plovdiv theater, as the first
professional in Bulgaria.
The sentence "a solid foundation of the Bulgarian national theater has already been laid!", of one of
the inspirers and supporters of this patriotic idea - Ivan Vazov, already more than 140 years
it floats gloriously through the annals of history, the yellowed pages, and the hearts of those who turned the theater into life.
The creation of a theater museum of the Plovdiv Drama Theater is an attempt to pay homage to this worthy work.
We invite you to get lost in the world of theatrical memory.
